Hello. My name is Connie Vandaveer and I've been in the health and fitness field for over 15 years and I would love to have the opportunity to help you reach your health and fitness goals. I would like to take this time to tell you my story...for 38 years I was always on the thinner side and had a hard time gaining weight until July of 2012 when I had a nervous breakdown and was taken to the hospital and then admitted to the psych ward (which I'm no longer embarrassed to say happened). Anyways I was placed on numerous medications and one of them had me gain 131 pounds in one year, which increased my depression and unfortunately obtained several health problems (acid reflux, high blood pressure and my body hurt all the time). One year ago I told myself this is it...I'm done feeling ill and I stopped my mental medication cold turkey (I don't advise this unless under the care of your doctor). I knew what I needed to do....I changed my lifestyle in several ways (mentally, physically and spiritually) and as of September 2019 I've lost 108 pounds (naturally...no diet pills) and I no longer take any mental medication not even my high blood pressure meds. I'm still working on my health goals and will continue for the rest of my life. I want to teach you how you can live a healthy life naturally. If I can do it so can you. I'm here for you.
Since I've been in the health and fitness industry for over 15 years I've read and seen on websites...let alone had friends live by this saying, "Your body is your resume." Well if having a perfect, well toned body is the requirement for leading/coaching people on their own weight loss and wellness journey then I must stop right now and not coach people. I have been on both ends (being a personal trainer and having a nice body to being over 100 pounds over weight). I understand first hand what people go through with weight struggles and wellness. I've lived it for many years and I've changed my lifestyle and I want to coach you so you can feel/think just as good as I do. It can be done.
Diet and exercise need to be balanced in order to achieve successful weight loss. You can exercise as much as you'd like but if you are not eating healthy, you will not receive the full benefit of weight loss, and vice versa. I'll have you go through a little mental housekeeping first and get rid of all the misconceptions about dieting...drown out the voices in your head with worn out mantras and replace all that with one simple idea and that is Quality Over Quantity. With my background and personal experience I can coach you on selecting the right food choices that will drop the pounds off you. I don't consider this a diet of any sort but a lifestyle change. Yes, it will be hard at times (I'm not going to lie to you about that) but with my coaching, faith and your moviation we can reach your health and fitness goals. Not only will I help you with your mentality and how you view food, but will also set you up for success and shift the way you relate to food. My goal is to help you change the way you perceive food and fitness, and develop a positive body image. If you struggle with any areas of health and fitness you should know that I believe you can live a healthy, happy life.
I'm not a therapist but I come from a lot of experience with depression, insecurity, and a few other things so those that have some of these issues I would like to share how I got through this with you....coach you through rough times. Your mental health is just as important as eating healthy and fitness. As it says in Proverbs 17:22, "A joyful heart is good medicine."
